Kenmore Range F033 Code Meat Probe Sensor Fault

F033 in brief

Freestanding Kenmore ranges with model numbers starting 790 show this as a meat probe temperature sensor shorted or too hot. On Kenmore Elite electric slide-in ranges (790.4131, 790.4255, 790.5256) the wording is meat probe temperature sensor failure.

Try these first

1. Seat the probe tip fully in the meat; otherwise it may sense cavity heat above 392 degrees F, which triggers the code.
2. Seat the probe jack fully in its receptacle, because a half-inserted jack can short the contacts.

Left for a technician

A multimeter reading across the probe: about 50,000 ohms at 77 degrees is normal. If it is off, the meat probe is swapped; if it is normal and nothing above applies, the relay control board follows.

F031 is a separate oven sensor code, and F090 is a door lock error.
