If you see suds

  • Still sudsy: drain by hand or use a wet/dry shop vacuum.
  • Inspect the detergent dispenser and replace it if damaged.
  • Use dishwasher detergent only. Regular dish soap makes excessive suds.

If there are no suds

  1. Look at the fill level: it should just touch the bottom of the overfill float mushroom. Too little water puts air in the pump.
  2. Look for bowls or containers flipped over and holding water, and load so they stay upright.
  3. No flipped items: suspect the water inlet valve. Unplug the dishwasher, close the supply valve and check the valve screen for clogs.
  4. Clogged screen: replace the valve. Clear screen and no flow from the line: a plumber fixes the supply. Water flowing: check the valve wiring; the valve or the control board may need replacing.
