Quick answer
Two meanings for F10: an upper oven door lock failure, or an oven temperature above 600 F and climbing.
Model compatibility
Kenmore reuses codes across series and model years, so F10 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
Plain language
What thiscode means
F10 is an upper oven door lock failure on Elite 721 ranges or a runaway oven temperature over 600 F on 790-prefix, slide-in and glass touch ranges.
If the oven is overheating
Kenmore lists F10 as a runaway temperature: the oven reads over 600 F and keeps climbing. Disconnect power to the range. After power is restored, an oven that overheats again points to the electronic oven control board. An oven that was never overheating is a different case, and then the manual says to inspect the oven temperature sensor probe and replace it if needed. Extreme heat damage can mean replacing the whole range.
This meaning is listed for 790-prefix self-cleaning electric ranges (2004 and newer), 2014 self-cleaning electric ranges, the Elite 790.4671 slide-in electric, glass touch electric ranges, and Elite slide-in gas or dual-fuel models 790.3263, 790.3264, 790.4260, 790.4261, 790.4275 and 790.4276.
If your range is an Elite 721
On 721-prefix electric ranges and 721 double-oven gas ranges, F10 means the upper oven door lock failed. The manual has you unplug the range and look over two sets of harness connections: lock motor to relay control board, and lock switches to oven control board. Loose wires are reconnected, broken wires are repaired, and a technician tests the lock motor and replaces the whole upper door lock assembly if it shows infinite resistance.
