F11 is a keypad or touch panel fault on most Kenmore ranges and a control board communication error on Elite 721 electric ranges.

Stuck or shorted keys

Two groups of ranges treat F11 as a key problem.

  • 790-prefix self-cleaning electric (2004 and newer) and 2014 models: the oven control keyboard is shorted. Cut power for 30 seconds, then restore it. If the code reappears the electronic oven control board is replaced, since the keypad is built into it.
  • Elite 790.4671 slide-in electric and Elite slide-in gas or dual-fuel models 790.4276, 790.4275, 790.4261, 790.4260, 790.3264 and 790.3263: the control detects a stuck key on the touch panel. Check that nothing is pushing the keypad and press Stop to clear the display. If it will not clear, disconnect power, inspect the harness between touch panel and oven control board, and reconnect loose wires. After that the panel is replaced, then the control board if the fault continues.

Glass touch ranges

The glass touch electric range lists F11 as a defective glass touch panel.

Elite 721 electric ranges: boards not talking

Here F11 is a communication error between the oven control board and the cooktop control board. Unplug the range and inspect the harness joining them. Once wiring is sound, the manual’s reset uses the Lower Stop, Lower Bake and Lower Broil keys with a 3 second hold. A code that survives the reset moves on to the oven control board and, last, the cooktop control board.
